Let the beer flow
New River Brewery was established in July 2015 on the banks of the New River in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire. After a lot of hard work honing our brewing skills, meticulous processes and fabulous recipes, we have gained a strong reputation for brewing the kind of beers people love to drink. In fact we have become known as the brewery to go to for reliable, honest, great tasting beers that result in good things being said about them – and we can’t argue with that!
We have a core range of five cask ales available all year round, complimented by innovative seasonal and one-off "specials”. Much of our success is owed to our highly energetic strain of “wet” yeast which imparts a unique, clean flavour to our beer, and which we nurture and recycle from brew to brew. Five-Inch Drop was Hertfordshire’s Beer of The Year in 2019, and we have collected a number of coveted local and regional awards for our other recipes. Our bottled beers have also gained a loyal following and our range is now extensive and varied.
We love to work in partnership with other local producers, and have played an important part in helping grow the farmers’ markets, beer festivals and other events operating in our locality. We also sponsor several selected sports clubs and contribute to their charitable fund raising events. With the New River flowing past our backyard providing our day-to-day inspiration (our beer names are all themed around it) we’re keen to protect our environment and limit our carbon footprint. We use locally sourced supplies wherever possible and we use energy efficient brewing methods, also recycling our spent grain to feed local farm animals.
In a nutshell, we have laid down some very solid foundations for the future. Most importantly, we have a small, but highly enthusiastic and committed team, comprising John, Brenda, Vincent and Rachel. We plan to continue to innovate and grow our range of fabulous beers, and our state of the art fermenting vessels can’t wait to be filled!
